SAINT MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. (Women's soccer) – Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College head women's soccer coach Michael Aycock is proud to announce the signing of Corre Matherly to the 2017-18 signing class.
"Corre brings a great attitude, some serious athleticism, and great success in the classroom," said Aycock, "With her level of agility, I think she has the potential to help us in goal right away and will certainly be a big boost to the team culture of striving to be the best we can be. We're fortunate to have her join the Pomeroy Soccer family."
The South Vermillion High School goalie hails from Clinton, Ind. As a Wildcat, Matherly earned letters in soccer, softball, and basketball. Her awards include: Soccer WIC All-Conference Goalie (2014), Golden Glove Award (2014-16), Basketball Defensive Player of the Year (2017), winner of the Tyler Haase Memorial Soccer Scholarship, and helped her team to a Softball WIC Championship (2015). In addition to her athletic prowess, Corre excelled in the classroom winning awards such as the South Vermillion Education Association Scholarship and graduating with academic honors.
"I knew I loved soccer and I knew I never wanted to give up on it. However, I never knew I'd take my soccer life past high school," exclaimed Matherly, "I'm excited and nervous at the same tmie but I know that I will be doing the thing I love the most while going to an amazing school and starting my career."
Corre plans to major in pre-professional studies (dentistry) and is the daughter of Brian and Ellie Matherly. She has four siblings: Carra, Colby, and Zane Matherly.
