Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College was founded in 1840 by Saint Mother Theodore Guerin and the Sisters of Providence. Today, the College serves both male and female students after it was announced in May of 2015 that SMWC would become a coed institution.
SMWC thrives by offering a rich liberal arts education, such, scholarships, and financial aid opportunities to make college affordable, individual attention, a value-centered education in a Catholic tradition, and a wide variety of student leadership activities. The institution takes pride in its long history of traditions and commitment to academic excellence.
SMWC empowers students to think critically, engage in lifelong leadership, and effect positive change in a spirit of service and social responsibility.
In our relationships and all that we do, we demonstrate a commitment to the spirituality of the Sisters of Providence and our values: Excellence, Community, Diversity, Integrity, Knowledge, Justice.
At Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College we pride ourselves on providing our student-athletes with excellent experience both on the fields of play and in the classroom. SMWC offers a wide range of majors and has been named one of the best colleges in the Midwest by US News and World Report.
