Sara Schulz is entering her seventh year at the helm of the western team. During her time guiding the Pomeroys, SMWC has been the IHSA Zone 7 Region High Point team every year.

Also in 2014, Schulz guided one rider to victory in the Open Reining class at the semifinals. In her first five seasons at the helm, Schulz led the western program to one-sixth place finish at the IHSA semifinals. In 2014-2015, Schulz led the Pomeroys to IHSA Nationals where SMWC finished fourth, which capped SMWC's most successful season. She coaches the 2014-15 Walk/Trot IHSA National Champion in Kendall Dudenhoeffer and the Novice IHSA Reserve National Champion in Hannah Hein. In 2015-16 She guided Dudenhoeffer to a fourth-place finish in Individual Beginner Western Horsemanship and Hannah Hein to an 18th place finish in the AQHA High Point Western Rider division.
