TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College men's golf team hit the links at Hulman Links this weekend for its first action in the Terre Haute area.
The Pomeroys finished the weekend tied for eighth out of 15 teams at the Rose-Hulman Invitational. The Pomeroys turned in a two day score of 648 (329-319) to beat host Rose-Hulman, who finished with a team score of 664, and five other teams in the field of 15.
Freshman Samuel Grimes led the way for the Pomeroys with a 160 (80-80) to finished tied for 37th in the field of 95. Freshman Justin Wilson finished with a 36-hole card of 162 (79-83), while freshman Blake Bennett finished with a 163 (84-79). Freshman Braxton McIntyre finished with a card of 163 (85-77) and freshman Jaret Morlan finished with a 177 (90-87).
SMWC's second day score of 319 is the program's lowest 18-hole round, while they also set their inaugural season 36-hole record with their team score of 648.
The Pomeroys will now finish up their inaugural season at the Huntington University Invitational at the Brookwood Golf Course in Fort Wayne, Ind.
