TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (Men's Cross Country) -- Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College men's cross country head coach Zach Whitkanack is proud to announce the signing of Levi Herb to the 2018-19 signing class.
"Levi is a great young man with a lot of potential for growth as a runner. Once accustomed to the mileage I think he will make a big contribution to the program even as a freshman," commented Whitkanack. "I look forward to watching Levi grow as a student athlete over the next four years."
Herb is a Terre Haute native and will graduate from Terre Haute North High School this spring. As a Patriot, he earned four varsity letters in cross country and track and field team. His athletic achievements in cross country include being a four time semi-state qualifier, state qualifier (freshman year), and the "Top Newcomer" Award. In the classroom, Herb was received the Fall Academic Achievement Award (2015, 2016). He was also very active in school as he was a member of the "Intramural Sports" club and is a member of the "Shakespeare" club. One of his favorite things to do in his free time is play recreational Ultimate Frisbee.
"On the excitement scale, from one to ten, I'm at about 15!" exclaimed Herb. "I can't wait to join the team and meet the guys. It's always been a dream of mine to run at the collegiate level, and now I'm actually realizing that dream. I'm excited to see what SMWC has to offer. I know that it will perfectly accommodate me with the small classes because I won't be just another student on campus."
Levi intends to major in Marketing with a minor in Media Arts at The Woods. He is the son of Rodney and Molly Herb and has one sibling, Briar.
