Softball Secures Four USCAA All-Americans and Six USCAA All-Academic Honorees

DUBOIS, Pa. – The United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) hosted the 2018 All-American USCAA banquet tonight at the Dubois Country Club. The 1:00 p.m. reception began with an endless buffet, a keynote speaker, and the 2018 All-American awards presentation. The Pomeroys were well-represented as four players were selected to the USCAA All-American team and six were named to the USCAA All-Academic team.

Junior Hollie Jones stellar performance this season tagged her as a USCAA First Team All-American for the second year in-a-row. Jones leads the Pomeroys in 11 separate statistical categories including an incredible .504 batting average, 44 runs scored, 26 stolen bases, 24 RBI's, and four home runs. Not only does she do it at the plate, Jones holds a .945 fielding percentage, 52 put-outs, and has twisted seven double plays.

Senior Kerri Schrock and junior Taylor Andrew brought home USCAA Second Team All-American honors. Schrock is no stranger to the All-American status as she earned Second Team All-American status in the 2015-16 season as well. She leads the team with seven home runs, 29 RBI's, and is the Pomeroys playmaking shortstop. Taylor Andrew, the Pomeroys ace has heard her named called as an All-American for her second season in-a-row. She accumulated 11 victories, 81 strikeouts in 114.2 innings pitched.

Junior Baylee Waters received the USCAA All-American Honorable Mention nod for her impressive season. Waters holds a .330 batting average and leads the team with seven doubles. She tallied 18 RBI's and scored 23 runs.

Nicole Niespodziany, Katelynn Kennedy, Paige McClain, Kindra Gingerich, Kerri Schrock, and Mariah Stout, were named to the USCAA National All-Academic team. The National All-Academic Award is designed to recognize all student-athletes (sophomores, juniors, and seniors at four-year institutions and sophomores at two-year institutions) who have a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 (on a 4.00-point system) or greater.

The softball team will take on the winner of #7 seed Mississippi University for Women and #10 seed Penn State-Beaver. Opening pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Monday, May 14th.
