SAINT MARY OF THE WOODS, Ind. – Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College head women's basketball coach Deanna Bradley is proud to announce the addition of Kathryn Kraft to the 2017-18 signing class.
"Kathryn is a very intelligent player, a great teammate and an excellent student," stated Bradley. "She is a very good ball handler, has a very quick first step on the drive, and see's the court well. She is going to be a tremendous asset to us, both on and off the court, and we are so excited to have her joining our Pomeroy squad."
Kraft, who will graduate from Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School, has been an active student-athlete in her time at Brebeuf. She has served as an admissions ambassador, while also serving on several club's and being a volunteer assistant coach for a 6th grade basketball team. Kraft is also a member of the National Honors Society and is a staple on the honor roll list.
Athletically, Kraft helped guide her team to a 2016 sectional championship as a junior and was a two-year starter at Brebeuf. The Honorable Mention Academic All-State recipient was as much of a leader on the court as she was in the classroom, earning the team's Chief's Award which is the highest honor a Brebeuf student-athlete can receive. The award focuses on the importance of scholarship and leadership.
"I am excited for the opportunities ahead and cannot wait to see where they take me," stated Kraft. "The team has been very welcoming to me and already makes me feel a part of the program, which is a neat aspect that makes me look forward to getting on campus. I can't wait to start doing what I can to help the team out in the upcoming seasons."
Kraft plans to enter SMWC's 3+1 leadership development program in business administration and organizational leadership. She is the daughter of Dan and Teri Kraft.
