CLAY CITY, Ind. (Women's basketball) -- Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College head women's basketball coach Deanna Bradley is proud to announce the signing of Avalee Jeffers to the 2018-19 class.
"Avalee will fit very well into our program. Not only is she a very good athlete, she is a great student and an amazing young woman," commented Bradley. "We are very excited she has committed to attending and playing at SMWC next year."
The Cory, Ind. native will graduate from Clay City Junior-Senior High School in the spring. At 5'11, she is a prolific multisport athlete that has played basketball, volleyball, and ran track and cross country for the Eels. Jeffers was awarded Most Kills and Most Blocks in volleyball. For basketball, she picked up the Defense, Offense, Field Goal Percentage, All-SWIAC, and the Toby Yoho awards. She also has excelled in track by earning the Outstanding Thrower, Field Events, Most Valuable, and Most Points awards. Jeffers also represented Clay City at Regionals in the discus, the 4x400 relay, and the high jump (three years). Off the court and track, Avalee has made her mark in the classroom with three academic letters and won the Scholar Athlete, Top Ten Percent, and Arts award. She is also a member of the National Honor Society, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Students Against Destructive Decisions, Business Professionals of America, the Spanish Club, Peers and the Student Council.
"I am greatly excited when looking forward to my future with Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College," exclaimed Jeffers. "I can't wait to further my education and compete at a high level at the same time."
Avalee is looking to major in Biological Sciences. She is the daughter of Alan and Nicole Jeffers, and has one sibling, Asieavae Jeffers.
