SAINT MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. (Women's Basketball) – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College Pomeroy women's basketball team claimed their first victory of the 2017-18 campaign on Tuesday night. SMWC routed Lincoln Christian University to the tune of 98-90 despite a few mistakes.
"We've got a lot of work to do. We will get there and when we do, this team will be a lot of fun to watch," stated Head Coach Deanna Bradley.
Freshman Maggie Reimer had a breakout game with 20 points and eight rebounds. She was followed by Callan Taylor with 14 points and eight rebounds. Another freshman, Regan Hubbard, made her mark on the game with 11 points and a team-high five assists.
As a team, the Pomeroys finished the game going 38.9 percent from the field, 30.8 percent from three point range, and 66.7 percent from the free throw line.
The Red Lions of LCU were led by Kenzie Schlipf with 31 points. Not to be outdone, Becca Adams contributed 22 points and 12 rebounds. Mikayla Smith recorded 14 points and five assists. On the boards, Shayla McCormick accounted for a team high 13 rebounds.
Lincoln Christian finished the night going 39.8 from the field, 7.7 percent from the arc and 69.7 percent from the stripe.
Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College will be back in action on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 2 p.m. as they take on Blackburn College.
