Season Finale Ends in a Victory After a Unique Forfeit

UNIONTOWN, Pa. -- The #8 SMWC women's basketball team played their season finale in the USCAA National Championships today at 9:15 a.m. The consolation game against #4 Dean College ended after an ejection of the Bulldogs coach Grahm Smith with 6:01 left in the third quarter. The disqualification led to actions which compelled the officials to "end" the game and grant a forfeit victory to the Pomeroys! The forfeit will count towards the win/loss record of both teams and the stats from the incomplete game will be counted. Although the final score in the books will be listed as a 2-0 SMWC victory!

In the first quarter, the Pomeroy offense scored 24 total points. SMWC shot 36.4% from the field while the defense forced eight turnovers. At the 6:01 mark, the game was labeled a "forfeit" and both teams were cleared off of the court. The Pomeroys wrapped up their 2017-18 season with an overall 12-13 record.
