  • Five Women's Basketball Player's Earn USCAA Post Season Honors

    UNIONTOWN, Pa. - The United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) announced it's All-American and National All-Academic Team honors at the 2019 USCAA National Championship Banquet yesterday. SMWC women's basketball was represented well by senior Callan Taylor and Delaney Kendall who earned USCAA All-American Honorable Mention honors. Callan Taylor, Kathryn Kraft, Mara Canada, and Maggie Reimer were named USCAA National All-Academic. Looking at women's basketball history, the program has now a total of 13 student-athletes have received USCAA All-American honors and 22 have made a USCAA National All-Academic Team.

The Pomeroys honored its only senior Callan Taylor and are so thankful for her dedication to The Woods basketball program.

    SAINT MARY OF THE WOODS, Ind. - SMWC Athletic Department has announced that the Thursday, February 14th women's basketball contest against Wright State University-Lake Campus has been cancelled. The contest will not be rescheduled. Next action for the Pomeroys will be at Robert Morris University-Springfield on Thursday, February 21st.

    SAINT MARY OF THE WOODS, Ind. - SMWC women's basketball defeated Danville Area Community College tonight 90-67. The Pomeroys pushed past the Jaguars behind impressive offensive performances by Avalee Jeffers, Maggie Reimer, and Montgomeree Porter. The Woods shot an incredible 44.4 % from the field and forced DACC into committing 30 turnovers.

The Pomeroys snapped a seven-game losing streak and carry momentum heading into their final four contests of the season. Callan Taylor was honored by the athletic department for amassing 1,000 Career Points; she is the 13th player in history to reach this milestone.

The Pomeroys trailed two points entering halftime but could not stop the efforts of the Lynx offense in the second half. The Woods falls to 4-12 on the season while Lincoln notched its ninth win of the year.

The Pomeroys came up short as the Bearcats won the contest 107-83. Despite the loss, The Woods had 13 players contribute on the box score. This is the eighth game in-a-row 12+ players have scored in a contest.

Behind a solid offensive performance, the Pomeroys hit 21 3-PT baskets while they shot over 50.0% from beyond the arc in the second half. The Woods will be back in action on Friday, December 21st in the Ugly Christmas Sweater Contest! Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m. ET.

  • Pomeroys Take Down MacMurray College; Sets School Record for 3-PT Baskets Made (26)

    Jacksonville, Ill. - SMWC women's basketball battled Greenville College and MacMurray College in the Sleep Inn Classic this weekend. The Pomeroys fell to Greenville 91-68 on Friday night but snapped their five-game losing streak today against MacMurray. The Woods beat the Highlanders 111-98. Regan Hubbard and Maggie Reiner were named Sleep Inn All-Tournament team for their weekend performance. As a team, SMWC set the school record for three-point baskets made in a contest with a whopping 26. The previous record was 24 against Oakland City University.

    SAINT MARY OF THE WOODS, Ind. - SMWC women's basketball lost to Earlham College last night 102-64. The contest marks the Pomeroys second largest loss of the season and the third time SMWC has given up 100+ points.. Nevertheless, senior Callan Taylor made history as she surpassed 1,000 Career Points! Taylor became the 13th player in history to enter the 1,000 Point Club.

    SAINT MARY OF THE WOODS, Ind. - The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's basketball team and Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology battled in the historic Dorsett Automotive Crosstown Classic tonight. SMWC lost 91-55 while RHIT inched closer to tying the all-time series. Currently, the Pomeroys hold a 14-13 historic record against the Fightin' Engineers. Brian Dorsett and his wife Gina were in attendance for tonight's game representing Dorsett Automotive, the Crosstown Classic official sponsor.

    MONACA, Pa. - The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's basketball lost a hard fought battle this afternoon against Washington  Adventist University. The final score was Pomeroys 74, Lady Shock 84. This loss marks the teams fifth of the season but senior Callan Taylor is just seven points away from scoring 1,000 career points!
