Pomeroys Stumble Their Way to 71-110 Loss
OWENSBORO, Ken. - SMWC women's basketball faced Brescia University tonight in Hamilton Arena, suffering a crushing loss 71-110. The Pomeroys trailed 46-63 going into the half but fell apart to finish with 25 points in the final two quarters. The Pomeroys fall to 4-13 and look to rebound against Fontbonne on the 26th.

How It Happened:

Brescia jumped out to a 14-point lead in the first quarter, shooting 51% from the field. The Pomeroys fought to stay in the game but found themsevles down 17 points at the half. It wasn't until the third quarter that the Bearcats started to pull away. Brescia notched 28 points to the Pomeroys 14 on 50% shooting from behind the arc. The Pomeroys were unable to fight back, losing 71-110.


 Statistical Leaders:

  • Maggie Reimer led the Pomeroys in points with 12; she added one rebounds and three steals
  • Regan Hubbard notched 9 points; she finished with one rebound and two steals
  • Delaney Jarrett scored 9 points; she added two rebounds
  • Avalee Jeffers tallied 5 points; she gave the Pomeroys two rebounds and two steals
  • Brianna Smith led the team in rebounds with 12

By The Numbers:

14 | As a team, SMWC snatched a total of 14 steals

55.6 | The Woods shot 55.6% from the 3-point line in the 1st quarter

27 | The Pomeroys forced 27 turnovers

SMWC will look to return to form on January 26th against Fontbonne University. The game is scheduled for 2:00pm EST.
