SAINT MARY OF THE WOODS, Ind. - SMWC women's basketball battled in the 2019 Hall of Fame Game today against Wilberforce University. The Pomeroys lost 100-77 and have fallen to 4-15 on the season.
How It Happened:
SMWC and the Bulldogs offensive dominance controlled the first quarter. The Woods shot 62.5% from 3-PT range and hit 7-15 from the field. However, they found themselves trailing 31-22 at the end of the quarter. In the second quarter, SMWC controlled the rebound margin but allowed Wilberforce to shoot 44.4% from the field. At halftime, SMWC trailed Wilberforce 54-43. The Pomeroys shot 43.9% in the third quarter but allowed WU to shoot 62.5%. Both offenses shined through while the defenses struggled to make stops. In the fourth quarter, SMWC was outscored 23-to-15 and was unable to come up with the run that they needed. SMWC lost 100-77.
Maggie Reimer led the team with 17 points; she added six rebounds, three blocks, and two steals
Delaney Kendall scored 15 points and grabbed one rebound
Avalee Jeffer finished with eight points, three rebounds, and three steals

The Pomeroys will return to Hamilton Arena on Thursday, February 7th against Midway University. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. ET.
