HANOVER, Ind. – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College golf team finished sixth of seven teams at the Hanover Invitational over the weekend. The two-day invitational saw senior Morgan Patterson set a new 36-hole school record with a 161 (78-83). Patterson beat the old school record of 162 (80-82) set by Sloane Engle in 2012.
Patterson finished the invitational tied for fourth, while freshman Katrina Dayhuff finished 28th with a card of 187 (95-92). Freshman Karlie Atkinson shot a 196 (101-95) to finish tied for 38th in the field of 51. Freshmen Madison Summerlot and Madison Miller finished with cards of 206 (99-107) and 217 (107-110), respectively.
The Pomeroys finished just two strokes back of fifth-place Manchester who carded a 748 (371-377) with the first day being the difference maker, as Manchester shot a 371 compared to SMWC's 373. The top four in order was Hanover, Rose-Hulman, Franklin and Spalding.
The Pomeroys will be back in action on September 16, when they head to Cambridge Golf Course in Cambridge, Ind. to face Oakland City.
