VINCENNES, Ind. – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's golf team defeated Vincennes and Oakland City on Tuesday at the Country Club of Old Vincennes to wrap of the 2016 SMWC women's golf season.
The Pomeroys shot a 354 to take first, while VU finished with a 374 and OCU turned in a card of 375. Sophomore Chloe Buerster shot the second best 18-hole round in school history on Tuesday with a 77. She was two strokes off of Kelsey Fuqua's 75 that was set back in 2012.
Buerster finished as the medalist for the match and finished her first season as a Pomeroy with the best season average for a first year player at 85.6. Her season average of 85.6 is the fourth best single season average of all-time at SMWC.
Freshman Elizabeth Yeazel shot an 88 and sophomore Karlie Atkinson-Fritz shot a 92. Sophomore Katrina Dayhuff shot a 97, while sophomore Madison Miller tied her best score with a 103. Freshman Jessena Goddard rounded out play for the Pomeroys with a 117.
