SAINT MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. (Women's soccer) – Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's soccer team and head coach Michael Aycock are proud to announce the signing of Makayla Jones to the 2017-18 signing class.
"Makayla is an impressive person who has done a lot to improve herself as a player, and it shows on the field," mused Aycock, "We're very happy to have her bring her skills and work ethic to the Pomeroys and can't wait to get her onto the field. I am confident she will help us in midfield and be a great addition as a citizen of the college."
Jones is a graduate of Kent City High School in Kent City, Mich. As an Eagle, she earned her four varsity letters as a member of the soccer team and served as captain during her senior season. Off the field, Makayla was a part of the student government, indoor soccer club, choir, and was the boys' varsity soccer photographer and videographer.
"Alex Morgan once said, 'Keep working when no one is watching,' and that is what I did. I spent a lot of time throughout my high school year improving my skills. I knew I wanted to play college soccer and I set my mind to it. I'm happy to say that I did it," reflected Jones.
Jones plans to be an art education major with a minor in theater and is the daughter of David Jones and Theresa Shafer. She has three siblings: Ashley Shafer, Payton Jones, and Joshua VanTimmeran.
