#PomeroyVB Goes 0-2 at C-SC Tri-Match

CANTON, Mo. (Women's Volleyball) – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's volleyball team (6-7) traveled for the Culver-Stockton College tri-match with, the host, C-SC and Missouri Valley College. In the their first match of the day, SMWC fell to Missouri Valley in three sets with scores of 25-4, 25-20, and 28-26. Against Culver-Stockton, the Pomeroys fought hard but were defeated in five sets with scores of 25-22, (25-21), (25-20), 25-22, and 15-11.

In match one; the Pomeroys were led by Madeline Howes with eight kills. Howes was followed by Monica Mack and Meagan White with four kills each. Katelyn Cotter kept the table set for Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College with 12 assists. Defensively, there were three SMWC players with double digit dig totals. Pamela Dorman led the way with 14 digs, Mary Alvanos finished with 13, and McKenzi Kumpf ended the match with 12. Mack made her presence know at the net with three solo blocks.

As a team, the Pomeroys finished the match with 20 kills, 18 assists, and 55 digs.

Lauren Eldridge and Katarina Krstonosic were the kill leaders for the Vikings with 10 each. Krstonosic also led the defense with 18 digs. The assist leader for MVC was Sarah Mueller with 20 for the match. Madison Sherman also accounted for 15 digs. At the net, Deborah Constanzo recorded one solo block.

Collectively, Missouri Valley ended the contest with 42 kills, 36 assists, and 64 digs.

In the second match, Mack was the aggressive hitter for SMWC as she racked up 16 kills and one solo block. She was followed by Kumpf who finished the match with 13 kills, two service aces and led the defense with 20 digs.  Gabriella Slagle accounted for 11 kills and two solo blocks. Cotter was the assist leader with 43. Dorman finished with 19 digs and White with 14.

The Pomeroys finished the match with 48 kills, 43 assists, 75 digs, nine team blocks, and four service aces.

The Wildcats were led by Gabby Hickman with 21 kills and 13 digs. Hickman was followed by Monica Bumbry with 11 kills. The assist leader for Culver-Stockton was Maryanna Catrine with 29. The defense was anchored by Anna Stock with 19 digs and Kendra Gengenbacher with 16.

As a team, C-SC ended the day with 57 kills, 52 assists, 81 digs, five team blocks, and five service aces.

SMWC will hit the court again on Tuesday, Sept. 26 as they travel to Anderson University. Match time is set for 7 p.m.
