#PomeroyVB Falls to Marian

 

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Women's Volleyball) – After an emotional win over Lincoln Christian University, the Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's volleyball team (8-8) traveled to face off against Marian University on Saturday afternoon. The Pomeroy put up a fight but were defeated in three sets with scores of 25-23, 25-17, and 25-22.

Monica Mack stepped up again for SMWC's offense with 11 kills. In assists, Katelyn Cotter led the way with 22. Pamela Dorman set up the Pomeroy's defense with 14 digs. At the net, Gabriella Slagle made her presence known with a solo block.

Collectively, Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College finished the match with 34 kills, 32 assists, and 53 digs.

For the Sabres, Kalyn Schreiber was the kill leader with 13 on the day. Madi Heffron was the assist leader for Marian with 21. Defensively, Taylor Lay led with 17 digs and Megan Hawley contributed 12. Anne Strevels recorded a solo block.

As a team, the Sabres ended the match with 44 kills, 43 assists, and 58 digs.

The Pomeroys will return home to Hamilton Arena for the 2017 SMWC Homecoming against Oakland City University. Match time is set for 2:30 p.m.
