#PomeroyVB Falls to OCU on Homecoming

SAINT MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. (Women's Volleyball) --  The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's volleyball (8-9) went head-to-head with Oakland City University(11-7) for the 2017 SMWC Homecoming game. The Pomeroys rallied all match to pick up the win but couldn't overcome the Lady Oaks. SMWC was defeated in four sets with scores of 25-14, (26-24), 27-25, and 25-15.

The leaders for the Pomeroys were Monica Mack with 13 kills and McKenzi Kumpf with 12. Mary Alvanos was the assist leader with 21 and Katelyn Cotter contributed 12. Defensively, Pamela Dorman led the way with 21 digs and Gabriella Slagle was big at the net with three solo blocks.

As a team, SMWC finished the day with 42 kills, 36 assists, and 50 digs.

Kirsten Schoor was the leader for the Lady Oaks with 17 kills. Schoor was followed by Bethany Hyndman with 13 and Kaebra LaGrange with 11. The offense was kept alive by Jenna Knepp with 25 assists and Ali Spahn with 17. Defensively, Madison Ralph led the way with 18 digs and Bethanie Knepp racked up three solo blocks.

Collectively, Illinois Tech ended the match with 57 kills, 53 assists, and 63 digs.

The Pomeroys will travel to Lincoln Christian University on Monday, Oct. 9. Match time is set for 7 p.m.
