Pomeroy Volleyball Heads to USCAA Nationals

SAINT MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. (Women's Volleyball) --  The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's volleyball team packed their bags for their trip to the 2017 United State Collegiate Athletic Association National Volleyball Tournament in Virginia Beach, Va. The tournament is set for Thursday, Nov. 9 – Saturday, Nov. 11 with pool play beginning on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. Single elimination begins on Friday afternoon at 5 p.m.

On Thursday, the second seed Pomeroys will go head to head with Johnson & Wales University – Charlotte at 11 a.m. and will continue at 3:30 p.m. against the University of Cincinnati – Clermont. On Friday at 12:30 p.m., SMWC will take on Pennsylvania State University- Fayette.

McKenzi Kumpf and Monica Mack have led the way for Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College this season. The duo is ranked in top 20 in the USCAAA in kills per set and in the top 15 in kills. Mack has been the most consistent and the anchor for the team as she is ranked in the top 10 in hitting percentage and blocks per set in the USCAA. The newcomers, freshmen Katelyn Cotter and Pamela Dorman have made their mark in the USCAA top individual rankings. Dorman is in the top 15 for digs while Cotter is in the top 10 for assists/set. Each of these players will be vital for the Pomeroys on the road to a national title.
