SMWC Volleyball Loses USCAA National Championship to Florida National Univeristy

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College volleyball team ended their season at the Virginia Beach Sports Complex this afternoon. The Pomeroys battled it out against Florida National University in a back and forth dogfight for the 2018 USCAA National Championship trophy. The Woods lost to FNU in four sets: 17-25, 15-25, 25-21, 25-22. Despite the loss, McKenzi Kumpf, Gabriella Slagle, and Monica Mack were named to the USCAA All-Tournament Team.

  • This is the fourth-straight season SMWC has finished as Runner-Ups
  • SMWC concludes its season with a record of 18-16 (.529)
  • McKenzi Kumpf tallied 18 kills and 17 digs
  • Gabriella Slagle notched 10 kills 
  • Pamela Dorman recorded 29 digs
  • Katelyn Cotter finished with 38 assists and nine digs
