NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's cross country team ran in one of its biggest meets of the year on Friday, the National Catholic Cross Country Invitational hosted by Notre Dame.

The Pomeroys finished 27th of 30 teams in the college division. All five Pomeroys competing on Friday ran their fastest 5k times of the season to begin trending upwards towards the bulk of SMWC's 2016 schedule.

Junior Cheyenn Wright Led SMWC with a time of 21:07.9, while freshman Corrissa Proctor ran a 22:49.8. Senior Sarah Wichman wasn't far behind Proctor with a 22:50.9, while sophomore Teresa Dudley ran a 23:35.5. Rounding out the day for SMWC was freshman Elizabeth Trausch with a time of 27:57.6

The biggest improvement from SMWC's last 5k, which was the Northwest Invite to start the season, came from Proctor who shaved three minutes and 16.9 seconds off of her previous 5k time.

The Pomeroys will be back in action on September 23 when they head to the Brissman-Lundeen Invitational (6k) hosted by Augustana College.
