SMWC Finishes Season Third at USCAA Nationals

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (Women's Cross Country) – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's cross country team closed out their great season at the 2017 United States Collegiate Athletic Association National Cross Country meet. The Pomeroys finished in third place with a score of 65 points.

Cleary University claimed the national title with a score of 38 points. Madison Paquette of Cleary won the individual championship with a time of 23:22.

SMWC had four runners in the top 20 of the meet. Two freshmen led the way for the Pomeroys as Kendyll Schulz finished fifth with a time of 24:16 and Breanna Barger came in sixth with a time of 24:18. Senior Cheyenn Wright crossed the finish line in eighth place with a time of 24:27. Corrissa Proctor came in 19th place with a time of 26:02. Schulz was named as a First Team USCAA All-American. Barger and Wright were named to the Second Team USCAA All-American.

Saige Woodford finished in 27th place with a time of 27:07 while Teresa Dudley came in 31st place with a time of 27:47. Taylor Bunch finished in 48th place with a time of 29:39.

Hanna Camden came in with a time of 30:33 and Celine Hornick finished with a time of 30:38. Elizabeth Trausch rounded out the Pomeroys with a time of 32:55.
