FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's cross country team were just edged out of a 4th place finish from a solid effort at the 2018 Sodexo Invitational hosted by Franklin College on Saturday. The Pomeroys finished just one point out of 4th place with a score of 125 and an average time of 26:08.90.
The Pomeroys beat out DePauw who came in at 6th with 135 points and an average of 26:10.28. Mount Union led the way with 60 points and an average time of 24:50.22 with Oberlin following them in 2nd with 74 points and a 25:13.80 average. Franklin College rounded out the invitation in 11th with 294 points and an average run time of 30:03.80.
SMWC featured three runners in the top 20 of the meet. Claire Loebker placed the highest of the Pomeroys in 13th with a time of 25:24.80. Loebker was followed by Kayla Coryea in 15th place with a time of 25:27.00 and Emily Truax in 19th place with a time of 25:56.80.
Rachel House of Heidelberg claimed first place with a time of 22:39.10.
SMWC will compete again on Friday, Sept. 21 as they travel back to Franklin for the Mount St. Joseph Invitational. The meet start time is set for 5:15 p.m.
