SAINT MARY OF THE WOODS, Ind. – Gage Rayman has been named assistant men's and women's throws coach at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC), head coach Zach Whitkanack announced today.
Gage joins the Pomeroys with previous coaching experience and plenty of personal experience as a thrower himself.
Gage joins the Pomeroys from his previous position as Assistant Throws Coach at Aberdeen Central High School in Aberdeen, South Dakota. Prior to that, he was a coach/counselor at Ironwood Throws Camp from 2015-2017. Says Rayman, " I am so excited to have been given this opportunity to pursue my dream. I'm excited to begin this new chapter with a great school that takes pride in succeeding on and off the field!"
Rayman is no stranger to success when it comes to throwing as he collected a number of accolades in high school including 2nd Team All-Greater Spokane League (GSL) – Shot Put (2013), 3A GSL – Shot Put Champion (2013), Shadle Park Field MVP (2012 & 2013). In College, he posted personal bests in Hammer – 48.26m (2018), Weight – 15.56m (2018), and Shot Put – 14.10m (2017).
"I was an athlete competing in trade for 13 years and I'm looking forward to continuing as a coach and keep the love and passion for the sport going with the next generation of student-athletes", says Rayman.
Head coach Zach Whitkanack said, "I am thrilled to welcome Gage to the Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College Track & Field coaching staff. Gage will bring with him a wealth of knowledge and experience. I look forward to having Gage recruit and work with our throwers."
Rayman graduated from Northern State University with a degree in Psychology and a concentration in Coaching. The thrower also played football in high school for the Highlanders.
Currently, he resides in Terre Haute, Indiana.
