SMWC Softball Sweeps the Asbury Eagles

WILMORE, Ky. -  The Pomeroy softball team swept Asbury University yesterday with two shutout victories. SMWC won the first game in run-rule fashion with an 8-0 routing and took game two by the score 6-0.

Game #23 | vs. Asbury University

Katelynn Kennedy threw a shutout to lead the Pomeroys past Asbury University 8-0. SMWC secured the victory thanks to five runs in the third inning. Camryn Scott, Hailey Miller, Kelsey Young, and Kindra Gingerich each earned RBI's in the big inning. Kennedy took the win for The Woods. She allowed three hits and zero runs over five innings and stuck out five. The Woods racked up eight hits. Hollie Jones and Scott each had two hits to lead the team.

Game #24 | vs. Asbury University

Taylor Andrew did not allow a single run in SMWC's 6-0 victory against Asbury University. Hollie Jones, Camryn Scott, Katelynn Kennedy, and Cory Taylor each had RBI's in the seventh inning as they scored four runs. Andrew grabbed the victory in the circle as she threw the full game. She allowed just six hits and struck out six. Kennedy went 2-for-4 at the plate which led the team. The Pomeroy defense was perfect in the field as they did not commit an error. 

Where the Pomeroys Sit?

SMWC holds a 15-9 (.625) record on the season and is fourth place in the USCAA Coaches Poll. With six games remaining, the Pomeroys will likely earn a Top 5 bid to the Small College World Series. Bid day for USCAA softball is on Monday, May 6th.

Who's On Deck?

The Woods will be back in action on Tuesday, April 23rd against Greenville University. The first pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. ET.
