DANVILLE, Ill. -- The SMWC women's basketball team clashed against Danville Area Community College yesterday in an afternoon tote. The Pomeroys high-powered offense contributed them to an 84-58 victory over the Jaguars.
Early on, the Pomeroys and Jaguars offensive attacks battled back and forth. SMWC earned the lead 23-22 at the end of the first quarter. By halftime, the Pomeroys added to their lead after they had outscored DACC 15-11 in the second quarter. At the break, the Woods led 38-33. The SMWC offense continued to fire on all cylinders as they scored 21 points in the third quarter. In the fourth, the Pomeroys put the game away as they tallied 25 points and finished the game shooting 41.3% from the field. SMWC knocked down 10 from beyond the arc and forced DACC to commit 35 turnovers.
