Pomeroys Push Past RMU-Springfield; Callan Taylor Honored for 1,000 Career Points

SAINT MARY OF THE WOODS, Ind. - SMWC women's basketball defeated Robert Morris University-Springfield this afternoon 101 - 83. The Pomeroys snapped a seven-game losing streak and carry momentum heading into their final four contests of the season. Callan Taylor was honored by the athletic department for amassing 1,000 Career Points; she is the 13th player in history to reach this milestone.

How It Happened:

In the first quarter, SMWC combined both offensive and defensive efforts which gave them a nine-point lead. The Pomeroys concluded on four 3-PT baskets and dominated the glass with 17 rebounds. In the second quarter, The Woods shot 55.6% from the field and 44.4% from beyond the arc which scored them 31 points. Paetyn Hayes had seven points while eight other player's combined for the rest. At the break, SMWC led by 18 points. In the third quarter, the Eagles offense came to life as they hit 45.5% from the field and regained the rebound margin. However, in the fourth quarter, SMWC did not let the Eagles run get the best of them. The Pomeroys were able to finish the game with a victory!

Statistical Leaders:

Maggie Reimer led the team with 17 points; she was 4-6 from 3-PT land, grabbed four rebounds and blocked one shot

Paetyn Hayes tied her career-high scoring 15 points; she added five rebounds, three assists, and three steals

Brianna Smith scored 12 points and grabbed five rebounds

Callan Taylor notched 11 points; she came up with three rebounds, forced two steals, and tossed one assist

Brittany Huddleston scored eight points, threw four assists, grabbed two rebounds, and two steals

By The Numbers:

101 | As a team, SMWC scored 101 points; this is the third time this season the Pomeroys notched 100+ points

13 | The Pomeroys had 13 player's score and contribute to the one hundred points

86 | The Woods fast-paced offense was able to get up 86 shots

Looking Ahead:

The Pomeroys will host Danville Area Community College and Wright State University-Lake Campus this upcoming Wednesday and Thursday. Tip of vs. DACC is et for 7:00 p.m. ET while tip off against WSULC will be at 6:00 p.m. ET.
