Robert "Bob" Belf will enter his second season as the Pomeroys head women's basketball coach. He was hired on Monday, May 21, 2018.
In the 2018-19 season, Belf led the Pomeroys to an 8-16 (.333) overall record. Belf coached two players who earned USCAA All-American Honorable Mention honors along with four who notched USCAA National All-Academic. His team averaged 81.5 points per game and broke the school record (26) for three-point baskets made in a contest vs. MacMurray College on December 8, 2018. On 21 separate occasions, SMWC hit 10+ three-point shots while their season-high was 111 points scored vs. MacMurray College. Belf also had one 1,000-Point Club member, Callan Taylor.
Belf has many years of System experience, he most recently served as an assistant coach for the NCAA Division III men's basketball program at Grinnell College (Iowa). He helped guide the Grinnell Pioneers to an overall record of 29-18 while he served as the team's primary recruiting contact.
In his professional career, Belf was an Athletic Director at St. Mary School in Royal Oak, Michigan. Overall, he has 23 years of collegiate coaching experience including stints at Madonna University, Henry Ford Community College, Kentucky Wesleyan University, and the University of Louisville.
Bob has been actively involved with the System since 1998. This includes coaching at both the high school and college levels, assisting with clinics, helping other coaches, plus running a system website and serving as moderator of a system e-mail list.
Bob is a Michigan native and graduated from Albion College in 1980 with a double major in Economics and Education. He obtained his master’s degree in Education from Marygrove College in 2005.
He is originally from Berkley, Mich., along with his two children; Rachel (17) and Robbie (14). Currently, he resides in Terre Haute, Indiana.
