SAINT MARY OF THE WOODS, Ind. – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) women's soccer team (3-4) lost to Anderson University (4-0-1) this afternoon 1-0. Stellar play from every player wasn't enough to pull out an equalizer as the Pomeroys fall back under .500 on the season.
The Highlights
- Anderson University scored first in the 13th minute as Morgan Reed tallied the game's first goal
- AU led the Pomeroys 1-0 at halftime; the Ravens outshot SMWC 20-to-1 in the first half
- With seven minutes remaining in the contest, SMWC made a push to tie the game but their attempt was unsuccessful
- With 33 seconds, the Woods had an opportunity as Alicia Lombardo drove toward the AU goalie but the Pomeroys were unlucky
By the Numbers
- The Ravens outshot the Pomeroys a staggering 32-3, but the Pomeroy defense held tight
- Goalkeeper Megan Benefiel made an impressive 14 saves on 15 opportunities
