ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's cross country team finished 18th in the Brissman-Lundeen Invitational (6k) on Friday hosted by Augustana College. Friday's field was one of the largest of the season for the Pomeroys, with 26 teams and 226 runners.
Friday saw three Pomeroys run their best 6k of the season, as SMWC continues to improve their times every time out.
Junior Cheyenn Wright was SMWC's top finisher at 27th with a time of 25:23.8, besting her best 6k time of the season by 30 seconds. Freshman Corrissa Proctor ran a 27:22.8 to finish 87th, which is her best collegiate 6k time. Senior Sarah Wichman finished 96th with a 27:36.1, beating her best 6k time of the season by 20 seconds. Sophomore Teresa Dudley finished 120th with a time of 28:25.1 and freshman Elizabeth Trausch finished 214th with a time of 34:36.9.
The Pomeroys will be back in action on October 8 when they head to Elsah, Ill. to run in the Cowbell Classic (6k) hosted by Principia.
